Every question is written and reviewed against the current AMFTRB practice analysis by people trained in marriage and family therapy — then rewritten when the blueprint changes. If an item is ambiguous, we cut it. That is why the bank is 1,080 questions and not 5,000.

Am I eligible to sit for the MFT National Exam?
Your state or jurisdiction's licensing board determines eligibility. Once approved, you apply through the Professional Testing Corporation (PTC) and schedule your seat at a Prometric test center — the exam runs during a one-week testing window each month. Start with your state board's requirements.
How many questions are on the real exam?
180 multiple-choice questions with four answer options each, with 4 hours to complete it. A portion of the items are unscored pretest questions, but they aren't identified during the exam — so treat every question as if it counts. Our full-length mock mirrors the real thing exactly: 180 questions, 4 hours.
What score do I need to pass?
There's no fixed published passing score — AMFTRB sets it per exam form using a modified Angoff method. In practice, most candidates need roughly 70% of scored items correct, and some states report results on a 200–800 scaled system. Check your jurisdiction for specifics.
What does the exam cover?
Six domains, and our question bank uses the exact AMFTRB blueprint names: The Practice of Systemic Therapy, Assessing/Hypothesizing/Diagnosing, Designing and Conducting Treatment, Evaluating Ongoing Process and Terminating Treatment, Managing Crisis Situations, and Maintaining Ethical, Legal, and Professional Standards.
